The Bee Cave City Council voted to support a resolution that would create a partnership between TxDOT and the City of Bee Cave for dynamic intersection improvements at State Highway 71 and Hamilton Pool Road.
The resolution allows the City of Bee Cave to create a future agreement with TxDOT that would result in intersection improvements, a costly project that the City itself would have not been able to take on otherwise. The city, through the Economic Development Corporation, would pay for the design of the intersection and TxDOT would fund the construction. City leaders said to have improvements of this scale at one of the city’s biggest traffic pain points will be a huge benefit to residents.
“We have a strong relationship with TxDOT and have been able to work with them to give us relief at this major intersection,” said City of Bee Cave Mayor Kara King. “These improvements could cost as much as $15 Million, and to have TxDOT take on this expense is an incredible win for our residents.”
TxDOT and planning consultants estimate it would take about 5 years for the construction to be complete, and the City hopes that through the right design, they could complete it at the same time the City builds additional local roads to help relieve traffic.
At their next Council meeting on January 23rd, staff plans to bring an Advanced Funding Agreement (AFA) for final Council approval.
