Bee Cave Welcomes New Planning and Development Director

Carly Pearson starts on April 1st at Bee Cave's new  Director of Planning and Development. For the last two years she has worked at The City of Burnet as the Director of Public Works and Community Development. Prior to that, Pearson was a Project Manager in Urban Planning at Freese & Nichols where she was a consultant for the City of Bee Cave and helped draft the Bee Cave Unified Development Code (UDC).

Pearson has a broad background in municipal administration in community development and planning, legislative affairs, and law in both the public and private sectors. She has worked in municipalities and as a consultant sharing her expertise, experience, and passion with federal and state agencies and cities of all sizes.

“We are thrilled Carly is joining the City of Bee Cave,” said Lindsey Oskoui, Co-Interim City Manager and Assistant City Manager. “I had the pleasure of working with Carly in 2021-2022 when she was a consultant and helped write our Unified Development Code, so it is exciting to have her back and working with us full time now.”

Pearson currently serves as Chairwoman of The Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association (APATX) Legislative Affairs Economic Development Committee, and as Immediate Past Director for Central Texas American Planning Association (APA). She also serves on multiple professional boards and volunteers her time as a Board member of the Austin Women’s Symphony League.

“I couldn’t be more excited to come back to Bee Cave and continue helping the city grow and thrive,” said Pearson. “The city has several projects underway that I am ecstatic to work on and see come to life in the near future.”

Pearson has her Doctor of Law (J.D.) from South Texas College of Law Houston and her B.A. in Environmental Design as well as a B.A. in Political Science from Texas A&M University. She brings a passion for public service and a deep love for and commitment to her Central Texas roots, where she and her husband enjoy spending time on their ranch with their family, dogs, and horses.
